2008 Grants
   

Teacher Training for Advanced Placement Calculus $2100
Two high school math teachers (Mr. Bennett and Mr. Matusik) will travel to Wisconsin to attend training in June.


Women's History Month Program $3,000
A group of community volunteers, working with high school staff, will present a program about the accomplishments and comtributions of women. Supplementary materials pertinent to women's history will be added to the high school media center collection.


Document Camera aka ELMO
for high school physics and math classes
$1099

This real-time projector will enhance the students' ability to see demonstrations. Geometry and statistics students will be able to see involved diagrams and/or formulas instantly.


Teacher training for Advance Placement Physics Mechanics class at the high school. $1600
Mr. Richards will travel to Connecticut to learn necessary skills for introducing this new class.


A projector and DVD player for science classes $1304.37
This equipment will enable the teacher to more effectively present daily lessons though digital and visual support.


New Yamaha 4 1/3 Musser Marimba $3019
This Yamaha Marimaba will be used daily by Middle School Band students to replace outdated and damaged elementary equipment. 3 - 4 percussions students will play on a quality instrument all at once and improve their overall musical abilities.


High School Sousaphone $2975
The GIEF is providing funding for one of the three new Sousphones the High School Marching Band is adding to its repertoire. This will make a positive and dramatic impact on the sound of the band.


Grosse Ile Alumni Association $2500
This "seed" money will begin the formal organization of the Grosse Ile Alumni Association. Individuals have already begun meeting and organizing.


Summer Library Program $900
This kept the Parke Lane Elementary School Library open for part of the summer to encourage students to read. Materials and 2 commercial programs were provided for all interested children of Grosse Ile.
